The volcano that erupted was pacaya, it erupted 2 days prior to the major rains of Agatha (which dumped 3 feet of water over 3 days! Here are some shots of the ash.
Mixing the ash from the volcano with water has left this mess .... and many drains/rivers blocked up. All major bridges and roads have been affected/shut down.
There is a concern that the stagnant water will lead to disease outbreaks.
I found these unbelievable pictures on the web. This is inside Quatemala City. A 3 story building was "swallowed" whole!
