Christmas Phone Call!!

Tyler sounds great! We put him on speaker phone, and we all sat around and talked to him like he was here in the house. He loves his life in Guatemala, and he told us some very interesting things about his life.

Fireworks seems to be the theme of a Guatemalan Christmas. Tyler said on Christmas Eve, EVERYONE in the city shot off fireworks. The big kind that go in the sky. He said his apartment was full of smoke.

He has become a fan of Orchata (for those of you who know what that is). He has a doughnut shop he likes to frequent. "long pastry filled with cherry filling and covered in chocolate" (!) Anyway they have really good orchata too. At this point, Jeremy said, "How much do you weigh?!!!" Tyler said his pants still fit, so that good. He said they walk everywhere; everyone does.

If you noticed the picture of the pink building several weeks ago, that is Tyler's apartment on the top floor. He said the downstairs neighbors want to paint it green, so no more pink. He said his Spanish is doing well; he can understand most of what everyone says. We didn't notice a Spanish accent, though...yet :)
